Sustainability

Ensemble Modern has made it its mission to conserve resources and act sustainably in all its activities. Since 2022, a sustainability team consisting of musicians and staff members has been working on these issues. In 2023, Ensemble Modern also received the ÖKOPROFIT® certification, as part of which it developed its environmental guidelines.

As an internationally active music ensemble, Ensemble Modern wishes to expand its contributions to ecological and social sustainability in a focused manner. This applies both to concert tours and the use of its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main for rehearsals, concerts and administration. The most important aspects are climate protection, resource efficiency and energy savings.

The complex issue of sustainable procurement of products and services and the considerate use of resource-consuming materials is the main focus of the catalogue of measures. This is reflected as well in ecologically-minded travel planning, avoiding air and automobile travel whenever possible.

These goals can only be attained if artists and employees are involved, motivated and trained accordingly. Ecologically-minded behaviour in the workplace, compliance with binding ecological obligations and responsibility for society as a whole must be anchored in everyone’s thinking and actions as a matter of course.

Ensemble Modern recognizes that climate protection in the cultural sector is a complex issue; its existing ecological monitoring will undergo continuous further development.
