Premieres

Three current works will have their Dutch and German premieres in November under the baton of Vimbayi Kaziboni. Mirela Ivičević’s ›Leviathan‹ reflects the composer’s experience of gender-specific prejudice in the music world. Georg Friedrich Haas deals with dark childhood memories in his ›weiter und weiter und weiter …‹, creating an intense sonic landscape. The Afro-American composer Jeffrey Mumford originally wanted to be a painter; he continues to be inspired by visual impressions to this day. In his concert piece for ensemble, he makes silence radiate with filigree sonic brushstrokes. EM member Rainer Römer offers a brief introduction to the programme in the video trailer.
