Subscription concert at the Alte Oper Frankfurt

Kaija Saariaho takes us on a colourful road trip through light-filled airwaves in ›Lichtbogen‹. Klaus Ospald’s ›Zweite Kammersinfonie‹ is based on texts by the Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi. The manner in which structures may suddenly emerge from a confusing complexity of sounds is illustrated by Brian Ferneyhough’s ›La Chute d’Icare‹. Jaan Bossier, who plays the solo part in Ferneyhough’s work, offers some insights into the programme in the video trailer.
