cresc... Biennial for Current Music 2024

We have all known them since childhood: string figures. These are among humanity’s oldest games. The mythical, imaginative patterns created by strings and hands served to depict constellations in the sky and firmament. They acted as communication aids between peoples, fragile works of art and cosmological performances. Under the motto STRING FIGURES, the festival cresc… 2024 takes up this practice, creating loops and links. On two weekends of large-scale orchestral literature, world premieres, jazz, dance and installations, Ensemble Modern, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, the IEMA Ensemble and international guests dedicate themselves to this topic, weaving new artistic links and textures.
