Open Young Ears!

School Projects

Fostering creativity and opening new perspectives: the education projects of the International Ensemble Modern Academy and Ensemble Modern enable young people to take on unfamiliar perspectives in experiencing contemporary music, encouraging them to try creative music-making. Ensemble Modern members give students an understanding of contemporary musical works, also helping them to develop their own compositions in workshops held within or outside schools. The aim is to show young people of all ages that they can be musically creative, even without or using minimal instruments. With its offer of rehearsal visits for school classes, Ensemble Modern gives students an additional opportunity to experience newly-written music, or music still being developed. They exchange views with musicians, composers and conductors. This gives them a chance to understand compositional concepts and developments first-hand. Before the rehearsal visit, the students also participate in a preparatory workshop enabling them to be musically active themselves.
